As discussed at the last meeting, which was held on 29th of April 2013, that the quest for POETS OF THE WEEK is on, we kept the ball rolling nonstop and two juveniles, proved to the house that they are worthy to be chosen as POETS OF THE WEEK on 1st of May 2013, after the combat of words, from different poets.
Some of the long list of poems rendered:

Owi ocho the initiation
Bakare islamiya Kemi Forgive me not
Osigwe Benjamin For you
Hassan Faruk When?
Ekeh Daniel He died of a broken heart
Elias Peter Flower of life.
Fabiyi Daniel rendered his poem through an answering machine (phone) as he was held tight at home with things to do, he proved to the house that he will forever be there with us in spirit even if his flesh we can’t find.

   POETS OF THE WEEK

AFOLAYAN MICHAEL
(Edited by Bakare Islamiya Kemi)
RAIN OF PAIN
Happily we live, in Spain
With flame of joy, clouding the air
Living love and peace
Without the memory of pieces

Suddenly, the sky pours out tears
Another minute, the flowing of blood
We walk with fearful shadow,
Stepping upon the face of blood

“Everywhere was without form and void
And darkness was upon the face of the deep”
Leaving a bad footprint in our heart
All became silent in pain

The street voiced terror
As the angry wind blows out our heart
Dropping our flesh on the ground
And soul tied with chain.

ARCHUBONG UDUAK
(Edited by Bakare Islamiya Kemi)
Nature of Life

As a baby, I was dear
Loved and cherished, nurtured with care
Enlightened with culture I have to share
Enjoyed every process that stand sweet as pear

Scriptures of life I red, some I heard
And now I’m matured, to fit in there
But now, I’ve been captured to exile, to live in fear
The nature of life is so unfair

Now there is no gain but pains to bear
Even with the torture I encounter
Still, I’m filled with vision and passion to conquer
So I capture the picture from my posture
Where I obtain the brightness of the future

The birthday of Osigwe Benjamin was announced and every member was given the task of writing a birthday poem to celebrate the young poet.
The meeting ends with this ? Mark
WHO would be our next poet of the week?
