POETRY/SPOKEN WORD WORKSHOP at the WORLD BOOK CAPITAL

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS! POETRY/SPOKEN WORD WORKSHOP In Port Harcourt at the WORLD BOOK CAPITAL from 22-26th of April 2014. (3 days workshop, 24 - 26th April, 2014, to be facilitated by the Aj. House of Poetry) Participants (18 -24) ranging from the age of 12 to 35years. The workshop will take participants through the art of poetry composition and all of the techniques that need to be learnt to be able to compose any poem whatsoever. The difference between a written poem and a spoken word poem which is aimed for the reception of a listening audience, and the very art of the spoken word. At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to understand the basic requirement to write and present a poem, write and perform a Spoken Word Poetry and develop a greater interest generally in the art of poetry. Participants will also get to know how poetry\Spoken Word can be used as tool for social change, intellectual documentation of social issues and a form of entertainment. Participants will be made to work on poems of their own on the 2nd day of the workshop and with all of the facilitators will work to improve on them so that they can be presented at the stand on Saturday at Goethe-Institut Stand.
